Softball Wins Game Two Against Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team split its Friday doubleheader against Spalding University.

Eagles fell 5-6 in game one and then won 16-6 in five innings in game two.

Asbury collects their tenth game of the season for a 10-11 overall record. 

The Eagles face Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL, on April 2 at 11 AM and 1 PM. 

Game one

*After the scoreless first frame, Asbury scored runs in the top of the second and third for a 3-0 lead.

*AU scored its first run of the afternoon as Taylor Sanders scored on an error.

*Taylor Enlow would smash a homer inside the park for a two-RBI; and bring home Kaitlyn Wilson to score. 

* Spalding would answer right back in the bottom of the fourth with two-run runs, to only trail by one.

* Asbury would score two more runs in the seventh, after Taylor Sander's RBI single brought home, Kaitlyn Wilson. Then TaykorEnlow would also score in the inning, putting the Eagles in the lead 5-3.

*However, SU scored three runs in the seventh and secured the win. 

*Kaylee Strunk pitched 5.2 innings and allowed six hits, and the Eagles were limited to only nine hits in the loss.

* Anna Grace Duncan also saw time at the circle pitching an inning and allowed four hits and three runs. 


Game two

*McKenzie Meyer and Kaylee Strunk shared the pitching mound. Meyer got the start and lasted 3.1 innings, as Strunk finished in relief for the final 1.2 innings.

*Spalding was first on the scoreboard in the first inning with a 3-0 advantage. 

* The Eagles would answer right back, scoring in each inning to take the victory.

* Olivia Palasek (1); Taylor Enlow (1); Harley Wagoner (1); Taylor Sanders (1); Olivia Judy (2) all had doubles in the win. 

*Olivia Judy led the Eagles with five RBI with two hits, and Sanders also posted three RBI. 

* AU had 16 runs, 16 hits, 15 RBIs, while Spalding had six runs, six hits, and five RBIs, leaving seven on base when AU left only four.
