WILMORE, Ky. –The Asbury University women's basketball team fell 84-73 on Saturday afternoon against Roberts Wesleyan at the NCCAA National Tournament for the third-place finish.
In the first quarter, Asbury only trailed behind one point. Robert Wesleyan continued to lead at the half 40-33. The Eagles continued to try and rally back in the second half, but Robert Wesleyan continued to stay ahead and secured the win 84-73.
AU ends the 2021-22 season 21-7 for the overall record and a fourth place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament.
Top Performers:
* Sarah Dennison led Asbury in scoring with 16 points on 6-13 shooting from the floor.
* Haleigh Releford scored 15 points on 5-11 shooting from the field. Releford also recorded four rebounds, an assist, and a steal on the afternoon.
* Meagan Bellamy tallied 12 points on 4-7 on the three-point line and 4-8 on the floor.
* Autumn Herriford, Paige Taylor, and Emma Strunk each collected nine points apiece.

*The Eagles as a team shot 55 percent from the foul line on 11-20 shooting and scored 18 points inside the paint.
* Roberts Wesleyan finished with 38 points scored inside the paint, and AU only had 18.
*AU shot 36 percent from the floor in the loss and 14-39 from the three-point range.
*Roberts Wesleyan completed the contest shooting 50 percent and forced ten turnovers, and scored 14 points off turnovers.
