WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury hosted fellow NCCAA opponent Alice Lloyd College for a doubleheader in Wilmore, Ky on Friday afternoon. The Alice Lloyd bats started out hot in game one taking an early 4-1 lead that AU couldn't recover from, ending up in a 7-5 Alice Lloyd win. In game two of the day, Jackson Cole shut out the Alice Lloyd bats to give AU the victory, 7-0.Â
Game 1
Alec Lush started the game for AU going 4.0 innings, striking out four. The AU bullpen handled the final three innings of work behind Noah Brown, Caleb Poll, Cameron Crick, and Ethan Cartwright. Cameron Crick and Ethan Cartwright each allowed no runs to keep Alice Lloyd at bay in the sixth and seventh to give AU an opportunity late.
The early 4-1 lead from Alice Lloyd was added on in the 5th with a 3 run inning that moved the score to 7-1. The AU offense was kept mostly quiet by the right-handed starter from Alice Lloyd, Branham, until the 6th inning when Walker Paris and Kaiden Zacharias went for back-to-back home runs to make the score 3-7.Â
In the final inning of this 7 inning game, the Eagles were threatening with two outs and the bases loaded down 3-7. Walker Paris drove in 2 on a base hit that made the score 5-7, but that would be all as Alice Lloyd got the next out to end the game.Â
Game 2

AU struck again for insurance in the fifth inning as Nathaniel Frank doubled to score Walker Paris, extending the lead to 7-0 AU. This proved to be enough as Jackson Cole pitched an incredible complete game, leading AU to their tenth win of this 2022 season.Â

"We came out in game 1 today a little slow. We struggled to get into a groove off of their starter from an offensive perspective. We made a late push at the end of the game but came up short. We made an adjustment going into game 2 today and struck 6 runs in the first inning. From there we led to the end of the game and pulled out a big win going into spring break."
