LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.– The Asbury University softball team earned their first road-victory of the season, winning 4-3 at Covenant College in game one of what was to be a doubleheader. The second game was postponed due to rain, and will be possibly rescheduled.
The Eagles are now 2-3 on the year and will be back in action Wednesday, March 2, when they host Midway in a doubleheader that begins at at 3 pm. Asbury continues its home-stand on Saturday, March 5, with a doubleheader at 1 pm against Oakland City.
Game one
*Behind another strong pitching effort from McKenzie Meyer, the Eagles held Covenant to just three runs.
*Meyer pitched seven complete innings, striking out four on 98 pitches.
*The Scots scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third and fourth, but the Eagles would take the lead whenJenni Beasley's RBI scored Taylor Sanders to get the first point. Shortly after, Olivia Palasek doubled to center field to bring in McKenzie Meyer Two more Eagles would score in the top of the 7th to secure the win.
*Asbury had seven hits, three stolen bases, and four RBI.
