Wilmore, KY - The Softball team opened their season this evening against Kentucky State. The Eagles recorded a shutout for game one with a score of 9-0 and fell short in game two with a 4-3 loss.

Asbury holds a record of 1-1 now and will be on the road for their next two sets of games in Birmingham, AL.

Leading the board tonight, Olivia Palasek with three runs and three hits. Taylor Enlow with her first home run of the season. And Kaitlyn Wilson with two runs and two hits.
Game 1:
*Olivia Palasek breaks open Asbury's first at-bat with a solid double.
*Asbury ends the top of the first with a run by Olivia Palasek, brought in by an RBI from Taylor Enlow.
*After a scoreless inning and a half, Asbury is able to put away two more runs in an eventful inning. With Kaitlyn Wilson on second, Taylor Enlow racks in her first home run of the season, knocking it out of the park, advancing the Eagles to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third.
*Asbury has a monstrous bottom of the 4th, recording six runs for the inning. Runs scored by Harley Wagoner, McKenzie Meyer, Jenni Beasley, Abby Fletcher, Olivia Palasek, and Kaitlyn Wilson. Jenni Beasley, Abby Fletcher, Olivia Palasek, and Olivia Judy recorded RBI's.
*McKenzie Meyer pitched four innings and allowed four hits, and Kaylee Strunk pitched one, allowing one hit. The Eagles were able to record a shut-out for their first game.

*Both teams begin with an uneventful first inning, with both teams placing no runs on the board.
*Kentucky St. picks up the speed in the second inning, scoring two runs.
*The Eagles attempted to retaliate with an RBI from Abby Fletcher, bringing Harley Wagoner home to score.
*After two scoreless innings, Kentucky St. attempts to push their momentum, recording another run in the inning.
*Asbury pushes back with a run from Olivia Palasek from an RBI from Taylor Enlow's double, bringing in Olivia Judy to record an RBI, bringing Taylor Enlow home, resulting in Asbury completing two runs for the inning.
*With a tied-ball game, Kentucky St. scored the winning run in the top of the 7th and won the game 4-3.
