Asbury Offense Explodes Again to Top Bob Jones, 91-76

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
GREENVILLE, SC.--- The Asbury offense shot an even 50 percent from the field for the second straight day and made 14 three's on Saturday to beat Bob Jones University on their home court, 91-76.

Nick Fort led Asbury in scoring with 25 points to give him 57 combined in the Bruins Invitational. Fort also added four assists, three blocks, two steals and two rebounds on the day.

Junior guard Caleb Wallis was right behind Fort once again, going 7-10 from the field and 4-4 from distance with 18 points. Wallis also dished fives assists and grabbed two steals.

John Shoulders scored a season-high 16 points with four made three's, tying Wallis for a game-high. Clayton Winter led AU in rebounds with seven, while guards Dakota Walden and Ashton Owens each put in eight points.

Asbury's defense caused chaos for Bob Jones as they committed 22 turnovers, the second most for an Asbury opponent this season outside of Grace Christian. Those turnovers led to 34 points off turnovers for AU, Bob Jones only scored 11 points off the Asbury ten turnovers.

The 14 made three's by Asbury is their second most this season behind their 19 three performance on November 16. The Eagles combined for 22 three's in their two games this weekend at the Bob Jones Invitational.

AU got their offense going early with a three from Caleb Wallis and went on to 26 points in the first ten minutes. Eight straight points scored by Nick Fort pushed Asbury out to a 37-21 lead with seven minutes to go in the half.

Dakota Walden finished the half for Asbury with a made three that gave the Eagles a 52-36 lead heading into the break. The impressive 52 first half points were just five behind the season-high 57 first half performance for AU last night.

The second half began the same way the first ended, with a Dakota Walden three that got AU off and running. The Asbury offense held onto their lead throughout the entire second half, only allowing Bob Jones to get as close as 13 at 64-51 with 14 minutes to go.

Asbury continues their stellar play in the 2022-23 season as they move to 9-1 after their sweep of the Bruins Invitational.
