
PULASKI, Tn.--- On Saturday afternoon, the Eagles competed in their final match to close their 2022 campaign.
AU traveled to face the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks, who they have never faced off against previously.
In a last effort of the season, the Eagles slipped to the Firehawks 0-9.
Just ten minutes of play into the first half, the Redhawks set the tone for the Eagles' final match.
AU was able to hold Tennessee Southern to only two goals within the first 45 minutes, as goalkeeper Maliya Crump racked up 14 saves this half. Crump held a notable save percentage of 85.7% in the first period.
It was in the second half where the Eagles slipped, unable to hold the Redhawks back.
It was a scoreless second period for AU, as the Redhawks continued to pursue the net, putting in seven additional goals.
The match ended 0-9, placing the Eagles' final record at 3-14-2 on the 2022 season.
The Redhawks are ranked #1 in the country in the NAIA, proving to be a justified competitor for the Eagles.
