
WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury Men's Basketball team soared to their second straight win on Saturday afternoon against Brescia University, 80-61. Asbury came into this matchup winning six of their last nine and picked right back up where they left off. AU went into the halftime break with a strong showing of 45 points, leading the Bearcats who were held to 30. Â
Brescia would manage to cut Asbury's lead to eight in the 2nd half but that would be it as Asbury continued their strong play throughout the entire game. AU seemed to be clicking on all cylinders throughout, using their effective fast break offense and solid defense to hold Brescia off. Eric Powell was awarded pregame for his 1,000 career points in his time at Asbury.

* Nick Fort recorded his sixth consecutive double-double, and tenth on the season with 21 pts and 15 reb
* Eric Powell scored 18 pts with 6 reb, and also played important defense to slow down Brescia's leading scorer
* Clayton Winter went a perfect 6-6 from the field and added 7 reb for the Eagles Â
* Dakota Walden was a smooth floor general again providing 10 pts, 4 reb, and 2 assists

* Asbury had 28 pts in the paint compared to Brescia's 14
* AU led in 2nd chance points 12-4 over Brescia
* Asbury's defense held Brescia to shooting 35% from the field
* AU outrebounded Brescia 47-31
