WILMORE, Ky - The Asbury University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision on Monday evening against St. Mary of the Woods. The Eagles move to 1-6 on the year while SMWC advances to 5-1-1.
After a scoreless first half, St. Mary of the Woods scored the first goal of the night in the 53rd minute of the match.Â
In the 75th minute, SMWC scored another goal on a penalty kick making it 2-0.
Zachary Robbins scored the Eagles' only goal in the 83rd minute of play off of a penalty kick. AU posted eight shots creating many chances to tie up the match in the second half.
Asbury returns to action Thursday, September 23, hosting Midway at 3 pm.

"The team played well tonight. It was one of the best, if not the best, performance of the year. We fought hard till the end, but sometimes things didn't fall our way. We look to bounce back on Thursday against Midway."
