WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University baseball team won its River States Conference series with Rio Grande on Saturday at Cecil Zweifel Field.
The Eagles are now 23-8 on the year and 10-5 in RSC league play.
AU is back in action at Georgetown on Monday in non-conference play.
Game one
*It was a rough start for the Eagles, who trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the second as the Red Storm took advantage of some early miscues by AU.
*Asbury responded with a huge second inning as they scored eight runs on five hits highlighted by a grand slam from
Walker Paris.
*Rio would score runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but the Eagles would shut the door in the final two innings as Paris gave up just one hit as he collected the save.

Jacob Cervantes picked up the win on the mound as he went three innings in relief and struck out four.

Trevor Campbell led Asbury with three hits while
CJ Compton and Paris each notched two hits.
*Asbury posted 12 hits as Campbell,
Matthew Baker and
Riley Baumbick each collected a double.
Game two
*
Tyler Morrison threw a complete game in game two as he struck out five and picked up his fifth win on the mound this season.
*The Eagles scored early in the bottom of the second on
Kaiden Zacharias' two-RBI single to right.
*
Walker Paris would score
Trevor Campbell on a sacrifice fly to center to give Asbury a 3-0 lead.
*Rio Grande hit a two-run HR in the fourth to cut the deficit down to just one run at 3-2.
*In the bottom of the fifth, Asbury extended its lead after
Colton Back connected on an RBI single to center to score
Garrett McIntire from second base.
*Leading 4-3 in the sixth,
Paul Haupt gave the Eagles a boost with a two-run homer to push the lead out to 6-3.
*Morrison would record the final three outs as he took the Red Storm down in order to preserve the victory.

CJ Compton and
Colton Back both finished with two hits each. Zacharias and Haupt led the Eagles with two RBI.
*Asbury posted eight hits in the win as Campbell collected another double and Haupt hit his second home run of the year.
