Baseball Sweeps Series with Oakland City, Collect 30th Win of Season

Box Score 1 OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Asbury University baseball team swept its River States Conference series with Oakland City over the weekend, capped off by two victories on Saturday.

The Eagles won game one 12-11 and took the second game 7-4 to win their 30th game of the season. Saturday's wins marks just the second time in program history that a 30-win season has been achieved.

Game one
*Trailing 2-1, the Eagles opened up the lead with six runs on five hits in the fifth inning.
*Trevor Campbell hit his second HR of the series with a three-run shot to center, while Paul Haupt connected on an RBI double, and Matt Baker hit an RBI single to left.
*Baker hit a two-run HR in the sixth to push the Eagles ahead 11-4, giving the junior his second homer of the series.
*OCU would close the gap with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, and three in the seventh.
*AU picked up an important run of insurance in the top of the seventh off an RBI single from Riley Baumbick.
*Alec Lush collected the win on the mound, earning his fifth win as a starter this year. Lush went five innings and struck out three.
*Jackson Cole earned the save as he pitched the final two innings of the contest.
*The Eagles posted 16 hits altogether in the victory with Campbell leading the way with a 3-3 effort and four RBI.
*Baker, Haupt, Baumbick, Colton Back, Garrett McIntire, and Kaden Dugle all tallied two hits each.

Game two
*Oakland City took the early advantage with two runs in the bottom of the first, while the Eagles were held scoreless in the first three frames.
*Asbury got on the board in the top of the fourth following a sacrifice fly from CJ Compton to score Paul Haupt, who reached on a double.
*In the fifth, AU took the lead as they scored two runs in the half-inning with two errors committed by OCU.
*The Eagles were able to extend their lead in the seventh with four runs on three hits. Haupt' RBI single to right scored the first run, followed by a two-RBI single from CJ Compton and an RBI single from Kaden Dugle.
*The Mighty Oaks added two runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at the plate, but stranded two base runners as the Eagles pulled out the win.
*Chase Thomas earned the win on the mound in relief and Walker Paris got the save as he recorded the final three outs for Asbury.
*Compton led AU with three RBI and Haupt posted another multi-hit game with a team-best three hits.
*Dugle posted two hits in the victory for his second straight multi-hit game.
