EATON, Ohio -- The Asbury University women's soccer team came up short in the River States Conference Championship final on Saturday against IU East 3-0.
The Eagles were shutout for just the first time this year as they were held to only three shots in the loss.
IU East scored the first goal of the contest in the 26
th minute of play to take the early 1-0 edge. Less than five minutes later, the Red Wolves added another score and took a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Neither team scored for nearly the entire second half until IUE scored the final goal of the game in the last five minutes of play to make it a 3-0 deficit for the Eagles.
Carlie Alvis notched three saves at goalkeeper in the loss, while
Rilen Gettings,
Olivia Ruckriegel, and
Delaney Long each finished with a shot in the game.
IU East tacked on nine shots in total and placed six on goal.
AU concludes the 2020-21 season with a record of 10-6-1.
