Eagles Roll Past Ohio Christian on Senior Day

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University baseball team scored a combined 41 runs in Friday's doubleheader to sweep the series against Ohio Christian on Senior Day at Cecil Zweifel Field.

AU won game one 20-3 and game two 21-7 to improve to 27-9 overall and 13-5 in RSC play.

Before the games, Colton Back, Garrett McIntire, Brandon Pruitt, Austin Jennings, Justin Manley, Will McDonald, Tyler Morrison, CJ Compton, Austin Dick, Paul Haupt, Jacob Cervantes, and Riley Baumbick were all recognized.

Game one
*Alec Lush got the job done on the mound and earned the win, throwing six innings and allowing just two runs.
*The Eagles jumped ahead out of the gate 3-0 and then added four more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Matthew Baker.
*Leading 7-0, AU extended its lead in next inning as Walker Paris smashed his ninth homer of the year to left-center.
*Asbury led 12-2 in bottom of the sixth and scored eight runs on six hits. Several seniors stepped up in the inning including Austin Jennings who went 2-2 with a double and a triple.
*Later in the inning, Will McDonald hit his first career home run to bring in the final two runs in the game for AU.
*CJ Compton was 3-3 from the plate with a team-best six RBI, while Paris also notched three hits on the day.
*Matthew Baker recorded four RBI and Riley Baumbick finished with three. Paul Haupt registered his ninth multi-hit game of the year in the victory.

Game two
*It was all Asbury in the series finale, as they scored 20 unanswered runs after trailing 3-0 in the top of the first.
*Tyler Morrison pitched six innings of work and struck out four. David Savastio closed out the game in the final inning in relief.
*Asbury 18 hits, combining for 34 in total on Friday's doubleheader.
*With the contest knotted up at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the third, the Eagles would score 12 runs on eight hits.
*Paris hit his second grand slam in the past six days and fourth home run of the week in the inning.
*Freshman Jacob Smith went yard in the bottom of the sixth as the Eagles scored a season-high 21 runs in game two.
*Garrett McIntire, Nathaniel Frank, Jacob Smith, Kaiden Zacharias, Walker Paris, and CJ Compton all finished with two hits apiece.
*Compton collected three more RBI, giving him nine on the day, while Paris and Zacharias both added four apiece.

Next Up
The Eagles are back in action at Oakland City next Friday.
