PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team fell twice on Tuesday afternoon at Pikeville in non-conference play.
The Eagles dropped game one 2-0 and lost the second contest by a score of 7-4.
Asbury moves to 4-10 on the year and will host Huntington University on Friday in Wilmore.
Game one
*The Bears scored the only runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth off an RBI single and defense indifference.
*
Taylor Enlow hit a double in her second straight game and
Harley Wagoner collected a single for the Eagles' only two hits in the loss.
*AU stranded four baserunners and struck out eight times, while UPIKE collected eight hits as a team.
*
Ally Moore tossed another complete game, striking out one.
Game two
*AU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after an RBI single from
Abby Fletcher scored
Brynna Reynolds.
*Pikeville would score four unanswered runs in the next two frames for a 4-1 lead, but the Eagles would respond with two runs in the top of the third to cut the lead back to 4-3.
*
Madilyn Choate's two RBI single scored Fletcher and
Olivia Judy as the Eagles' bats collected seven hits throughout the game.
*Pikeville would be held scoreless for the next three innings, but the Bears would add three runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead out to 7-3.
*Asbury would score the final run of the game on a solo home run from
Taylor Enlow, her first home run of her collegiate career.
*Choate led the Eagles with two hits and two RBI. Freshman
Abby Ponder pitched five innings, striking out one and allowing nine total hits.
