Eagles Win Third Straight in 14-4 Rout Over Trinity International

WILMORE, Ky -- The Asbury University baseball team continued its winning ways on Tuesday evening with a 14-4 victory over Trinity International at Cecil Zweifiel Field.

The Eagles won their third consecutive contest and improve to 13-3 on the year and are now 4-1 in home contests in Wilmore this year.

AU wasted no time in building an early lead, as the Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the second. Colton Back's two RBI double to right scored the first runs of the game and got the Eagles' bats going.

After TIU tied up the game with four runs in the top of the third, the Eagles responded with three runs in the next half inning to retake the lead at 7-4.

Asbury would hold Trinity International scoreless the remainder of the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, Walker Paris smashed his fourth home run of the year to extend the lead out to 8-4.

Paris got the start on the mound and pitched six innings of work, striking out five, and allowing no earned runs.

Paul Haupt's three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth pushed the lead ahead to 11-4. AU would score three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to win the game due to a 10-run lead.

Parker Burge's two-RBI single and Colton Perkins' sac fly would score Nick Mackle for the game-clinching run.

AU collected nine hits on the evening as Walker Paris led the Eagles with a 2-3 effort at the plate and three RBI. Colton Back and Paul Haupt each recorded three RBI apiece, while Gabe Lawrence notched a multi-hit game with two singles.

Asbury is back in action on Friday against WVU Tech at home.
