NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Asbury University baseball team dropped its River States Conference series opener at IU Southeast on Friday evening by a score of 7-6 in 11 innings.
The Eagles move to 20-5 on the year and have lost two straight games for the first time this season.
AU will return to action tomorrow against IUS for a doubleheader at 1 PM.
Highlights
*The Eagles jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning, scoring two runs off errors with the third run scoring off an RBI single from
Matthew Baker.
*AU maintained their 3-0 lead until the bottom of the third when the Grenadiers scored four runs on five hits to take a 4-3 lead.

Colton Back's RBI single in the top of the fifth scored
Paul Haupt to cut the lead down to one run.
*In the sixth inning,
Trevor Campbell connected on a solo homer to even up the contest at 5.
*Neither team would score again until the 10
th inning, as Asbury took the lead off Haupt's RBI fielder's choice.
*However, in the bottom of the 10
th, IUS tied up the game as they scored the tying run off an error.
*In the bottom of the 11
th, the Grenadiers would win the game on an RBI single to right field.

Garrett McIntire led AU with a season-high 4-6 effort at the plate, including a double and a run scored.
*Back, Campbell, and Haupt each tallied multi-hit games with two hits apiece.
*AU finished with 13 hits in total, while IUS posted 15 as a team.
*The Eagles stranded 13 baserunners in the loss.
