Women's Hoops Wins Fourth Straight with 63-57 Victory at IU Southeast


 New Albany, Ind. – The Asbury University women's basketball team won its fourth straight after adding another win on the road on Saturday against IU Southeast by a score of 63-57.

AU now improves to 12-4 on the season and is 4-3 in road games this season.

The Eagles will return to action back at home on Tuesday Feb. 9 at 5:30 PM in the Luce Center against Midway for Senior Night.

Key Stats
*Autumn Herriford led the Eagles with a double-double of 24 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, three assists and three steals. The senior knocked down 5 three's and was 8-14 shooting from the field in the win.  
*Trinity Shearer scored 11 points in the contest, marking her fifth game this season in double figures scoring. Shearer shot 3-5 from the three-point line and also helped on the defensive end by producing four steals and three rebounds.
*Jaclynn Ruble and Kelsey Johnson both scored 7 points and Paige Taylor scored six.
*Asbury and finished with 12 made threes and scored 20 points inside the paint and 12 points off turnovers.
*Additionally, Asbury dished out 12 assists as a team and blocked six shots.

Highlights
*A slow start in the first quarter for both teams combined for only 13 points, but the Eagles held on 8-5. *Asbury was able to maintain the lead at the half by three at 28-25 following a 20-point period from both teams in the second.
*IU Southeast dominated the glass winning the rebounding margin 63-37, which allowed for 18 offensive rebounds while AU only had 7.
*Back-to-back threes from Shearer and Faith Osborne moved the Eagles ahead 44-38 late in the third quarter.
*Asbury led by five heading into the final frame.
*In the fourth, IUS managed to tie up the game at 46 with under seven minutes to play.
*AU quickly regained the lead after consecutive three balls from Herriford and Ruble gave Asbury a 52-46 edge.
*Leading by only two with one minute to play, Herriford drilled a three to extend the Eagles' lead out to five which put the game out of reach from the Grenadiers.
