WILMORE, Ky -- The Asbury University women's basketball team won its second straight game as the Eagles were victorious over Centre College 81-75 at the Luce Center on Thursday evening.

Top Performers:

*Herriford finished with 19 points on 5-13 shooting from the field. The Lexington, Ky. native was 8-12 from the foul line. Herriford also brought in eight rebounds and dished out three assists.
* Trinity Shearer had another efficient night defensively as she recorded six steals, five rebounds, and a team-high four assists.
*Jaclynn Ruble reached double figures scoring 12 points on 5-15 shooting. Ruble knocked down two threes, added two rebounds, and dished out an assist. 
* Paige Taylor and Sarah Dennison both collected 11 points apiece.

Key Stats:

* Asbury shot 38 percent from the field and did a great job sharing the ball with 12 total assists.
* Another game where the Eagles had five players score in double digits.
* The Eagles finished with 31 points scored off turnovers, forcing Centre to commit 22 turnovers throughout the game.
* AU only collected 12 bench points compared to Centre's 26.

"This game was a classic grind it out win for our team. We played extremely hard on defense, but we shot the ball equally as bad on offense. You have to give Centre some credit for that also."

Most of the time people think it's through our 3-point scoring, but our defense is what really carries us night in and night out. The shooting may not always be there for us, but intensity and effort can always be controlled by how hard we play."
