CARLINVILLE, IL. — Asbury Men's Basketball took a trip to Carlinville, IL to match up with Blackburn College on Wednesday night. Asbury had been playing solid basketball winning their previous three games, excluding the exhibition with Division I Bellarmine. Heading into the halftime break, the Eagles would find themselves trailing 36-40.
Blackburn continued their strong play going into the second half and would mount a 68-59 lead over Asbury with only 6 minutes left in the game. AU continued to battle and with consecutive defensive stops, and a huge three-pointer by John Shoulders they took a 76-75 lead with 1:30 to go. In the final minute of the game, it was Nick Fort for Asbury putting in a layup to give AU the 80-78 victory over Blackburn.

* Nick Fort had an incredible night with 19 points and 15 rebounds (double-double)
* Eric Powell added 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds
* Dakota Walden had a big night with 16 points on 6-9 shooting
* Clayton Winter continues to tackle rebounds off the glass, tallying 16 tonight (8 offensive)

* Asbury outrebounded Blackburn 52-32
* AU totaled 46 points in the paint compared to their opponent's 28
* 10 lead changes in this back and forth battle would end with the Eagles on top

Asbury will enjoy their Christmas break and then return for a key home game against Alice Lloyd College on Dec. 29 at 7 PM.
