WILMORE, Ky - The Asbury volleyball team had their two-match winning streak snapped by the Centre College Colonials Wednesday night in straight sets. The Eagles' season record falls to 3-8, while Centre extends its record to 13-4.
Result: Centre 3, Asbury 0
Set 1: CC 25-17
Set 2: CC 25-21
Set 3: CC 26-24
Set 1: The Eagles traded points with Centre until the Colonials built their lead to 19-13 following three consecutive aces. Unforced errors by AU allowed Centre to extend the lead and secure the opening set.
Set 2: Asbury trailed early but steadily battled back to take a 18-17 lead. Centre used two straight kills to regain the lead and secure set two after a service error.
Set 3: The Eagles built a commanding 11-3 lead, but couldn't maintain the momentum when the Colonels went on an 8-1 run to finish the comeback and sweep the match.
