Strong Second Half Efforts Lead Asbury Past Ohio Christian

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – The Asbury University women's basketball team picked up a quality road win in River States Conference play at Ohio Christian on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were victorious 89-78 following a dominating second half performance on both ends of the floor, where they out-scored OCU 52-34.

Inside the Matchup
Asbury improves to 14-4 (3-2, RSC) on the year with the victory. Additionally, AU snaps a two-game losing skid.
Ohio Christian drops to 12-6 (2-3, RSC) on the season.

Quotable
"Today in the second half we got back to playing our style of basketball," said Head Coach Chad Mayes. "When we came back out for the second half, we made it our mission to get defensive stops and string several of them together in a row. That was the difference in the game for us, which then allowed our offense to click. We have many strong offensive teams in our league, so we have to build off this for our upcoming games."

Key Stats
*Zaria Napier scored a career-high 35 points to pace the AU offense on 14-27 shooting. Napier finished 6-13 from three-point range and also added seven rebounds.
*Autumn Herriford posted her second double-double of the year with 20 points and 13 rebounds.   Herriford also dished out a team-high five assists.

*It was a slow start early on as OCU busted ahead 10-2 in the first. The Trailblazers led 44-37 at the break, but AU fought back as Napier provided great offense for the Eagles with 17 first half points
*It was a big third quarter defensively from Asbury, which pushed them ahead 65-63 after out-scoring OCU 28-19.
