WILMORE, Ky. – Head Coach
Will Shouse collected his 200
th win at Asbury on Friday night, as the Eagles rolled past Boyce College 105-48 at the Luce Center.
Shouse, who is in his 12
th season at the helm for Asbury, entered the year with 194 victories at AU, and the Eagles recorded win number six tonight to help Coach Shouse reach a new milestone.
With the win, AU snaps a six-game losing skid and improves to 6-8 on the year.
Asbury played well on both ends of the floor, as they scored 36 points off of turnovers and had five players finish in double figures scoring.
Offensively, the Eagles did a great job sharing the ball in both halves, as they collected 30 assists in total as a team.
AU wasted little time in building an insurmountable lead and led by over 30 points at halftime, at 58-26.
The Eagles continued to find quick baskets in transition, from everywhere on the floor in the second half. At the 15-minute mark, the starters were replaced by the bench for the remainder of the contest.
Friday marks the third time this season that AU has cracked over 100 points in a single-game.
Eric Powell, who came off a career day at IU Southeast, led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points. Powell shot 6-10 from behind the arc and ranks 11
th in the NAIA in three-point field goals made per game.
Leander Ridgeway posted his fourth double-double of the year as he finished with 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. The junior also dished out four assists.
Desmond Duke was a perfect 7-7 from the field and scored 16 points and led AU with eight assists.
Caleb Bonny tallied 13 points and shot 3-6 from behind the arc.
Drew Delatte registered 10 points and brought in six rebounds.
Malcolm Murphy and
Blaine May were both also perfect from the field, finishing with eight and five points respectively.
In total, 14 Eagles landed into the scoring column on Friday night.
Asbury returns to action on Tuesday evening at 7 PM against (RV) Union at the Luce Center.
