WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University volleyball team fell in four sets at home to Brescia on Saturday afternoon's Senior Day match in their 2019 regular season finale. Brescia, who won the River States Conference regular season title, were too much for the Eagles as they won (26-24, 25-14, 16-25, 25-22).

Before the contest began, all five AU seniors (Kandace Eligio, Jessie Sandefur, Lizzie Rempel, Julia Thompson, and Charis Wieschhaus) were all recognized.

The Eagles played well again against another tough opponent on Saturday. AU had an opportunity to take the opening set leading 24-21, but the Bearcats won the final five points.

In the second frame, BU came out and quickly pulled ahead as the Eagles struggled to find their rhythm. However, a strong third set by Asbury put them back in the match with a dominating 25-16 game victory.

The Eagles made a late rally in the fourth set from 17-8 down to just one point at 23-22, but the Bearcats took the final two points to seal the win.

Asbury recorded 46 kills and a .199 hitting percentage. Additionally, Asbury posted eight blocks and 75 digs.

The Eagles conclude the 2019 regular season with an overall record of 12-15. AU will compete in the River States Conference Championship tournament next week in Pittsburgh, hosted by Point Park University.
