WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team drew a 0-0 tie with Carlow on Thursday evening in River States Conference play.
The Eagles collect a point in the RSC standings with the tie and move to 2-8-1 on the year and 1-1-1 in conference action.
Despite being unable to to break the scoreless tie, AU did a nice job spreading the ball around the field offensively as they posted 17 shots on Thursday.
Asbury's defense also played exceptionally well down the stretch as they held off Carlow and their nine shot attempts to keep the score even at 0-0.
For the Eagles' offense,
Jordan Holt led the way with four shots. Sarah Balckom tacked on three shots on-goal, while
Delaney Long,
Ashley Miller,
Lisa Nesselroade, and
Sarah Rocco all collected two shots each.
In overtime, Asbury did a solid job of creating shot opportunities in both periods. The Eagles had two good shot attempts from
Janelle Hibshman and
Ashley Miller late in the first overtime period, but came up empty.
Balckom also had a good look on-goal in the final minute of the second overtime period, but the shot was saved by Carlow's keeper. All three of Balckom's shots were on-goal.
Asbury will be back in action on Saturday night at home against Point Park at 6 PM.
