KOKOMO, Ind. – The Asbury University volleyball team was swept 3-0 at IU Kokomo on Friday evening in River States Conference play. AU lost by a final score of 25-14, 25-22, 25-19.
The Eagles slip to 9-11 on the year with the loss and drop to 5-5 in conference play.
Asbury collected 31 kills as a team and a .138 hitting percentage for the match.
IUK completed the contest with 49 kills and eight blocks. The Cougars recorded a .275 hitting percentage in the win on Friday.
IU Kokomo won the first set handily and gathered up all the early momentum. Asbury played much better against the RSC defending champions in the second set and had an opportunity to even up the match at 1-1, but the Cougars prevailed 25-22.
Despite a slow start in the third set, Asbury rallied back into the contest with a game-high 13 kills in the set. The Eagles cut the lead down to 21-19 later on, but IUK would win the final four points to win the set and match.
